NJ SEED Legislative Update: Assembly Telecommunications and Utilities Committee
The Assembly Telecommunications and Utilities met to take testimony concerning the State of New Jersey's aging water infrastructure system. Committee members heard from representatives from the Board of Public Utilities, The Rate Counsel, NJ DEP, NJ Utilities Association, and other interested parties. Representatives outlined a brief history of New Jersey's water and wastewater infrastructure, and presented their thoughts on the proposed solutions to the aiding, repairing, and even replacing much of the current networks. It is suggested that such replacements be funded through a distribution system improvement charge (DSIC).

Governor Chris Christie Announces a Transportation Capital Plan
Governor Chris Christie announces a transportation capital plan for the next five years that will improve critical infrastructure throughout New Jersey with Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno, Department of Transportation Commissioner Jim Simpson and State Treasurer Andrew Sidamon-Eristoff at the Statehouse in Trenton, N.J. on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011. The plan decreases borrowing while increasing "pay as you go" cash funding of transportation projects and does not call for any new or increased taxes
