NJ SEED Members Update

Captain Jim Roche, President, and Kevin O'Sullivan, representative of, of the Delaware River Pilots, Scott Winters, Operating Engineers Local 25, and NJ SEED met on May 19, 2011 in Newark with Zoe Baldwin, U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg's project specialist on environment and transportation to discuss the positive aspects of dredging the Delaware River. NJ SEED Legislative Update

The Assembly Transportation, Public Works and Independent Authorities Committee, chaired by Assemblyman John Wisniewski, met May 23, 2011 to hear testimony concerning the impact of Governor Christie's Administration's proposed transportation capital plan and funding of Transportation Trust Fund (TTF). NJ SEED Issues in the NEWS

For each of the past 24 years, representatives of NJ SEED have traveled to Washington to meet over breakfast with members of our state’s congressional delegation. This year’s trip occurred on May 10 and 11. There was an additional special event scheduled this year when NJ SEED hosted a reception on Tuesday evening at the headquarters of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. During the reception, members had the opportunity to experience a glorious Teamsters building that employed an impressive view of the great dome of the US Capitol as the sunsets over Washington. NJ SEED Legislative Update

The Assembly Commerce and Economic Development Committee, chaired by Assemblyman Albert Coutinho, met May 19, 2011 to hear testimony concerning the impact of Governor Chris Christie's proposal to eliminate administrative funding for the Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ) program.
