NJ SEED Legislative Update
The Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee, chaired by Senator Paul A. Sarlo and Assembly Budget Committee, chaired by Assemblyman Louis Greenwald, met June 27, 2011 to present the fiscal year 2011-12 state budget. S-4000 and A-4200 appropriate funds for the 2011-2012 fiscal years that include no tax increases or additional fees in its current form. The "millionaire's tax", bills S-2969 and A-4202 were added to the committee agenda and are separate items from the budget. The Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee and Assembly Budget Committee also discussed S-2981 and A-4206, which decreases the corporate business tax on certain subchapter S corporations by 25%. NJ SEED was in attendance to monitor the proceedings.

NJ SEED Legislative Update
The Senate Economic Growth Committee, chaired by Senator Raymond J. Lesniak, met June 23, 2011 to hear testimony on bills regarding economic development throughout New Jersey. S-1569 provides for equal opportunity for businesses to apply for certain energy-related incentives and funding. S-2957 makes certain NJ Meadowlands area properties are eligible for incentive grants under the Economic Redevelopment and Growth Grant program. Lastly, S-2972 makes amendments to the Urban Transit Hub Tax Credit Program. NJ SEED attended to monitor the proceedings.

NJ SEED Transportation Issue Spotlight
FLORHAM PARK, N.J., June 9, 2011 - The AAA Clubs of New Jersey recently surveyed drivers regarding the funding and maintenance of New Jersey's roadways. The survey showed that drivers in New Jersey are increasingly aware of the Transportation Trust Fund and its funding woes.

NJ SEED Transportation Issue Spotlight
Star-Ledger file photo U.S. Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-11th Dist.) proposed an amendment that would divert $1 billion of the money given to railroad projects in N.J. and N.Y. for relief in areas ravaged by flooding along the Mississippi and Missouri rivers.
