NJ Trooper Passes Unexpectedly

It is with great sadness to report that NJSP Detective Sergeant Jim Hoopes #5712,  a 14 year veteran NJ trooper and STFA member, who was on duty at the Casino Investigation Unit in Atlantic City, passed away suddenly.  He is survived by his wife Meredith, and his two sons, Jayson, 11, and Joseph, 7.  We send our thoughts and prayers to the Hoopes family and all members of the State Police family who knew and worked with him.
Northfield mourns loss of beloved leader, coach

NORTHFIELD — It was a somber scene as a community came together to mourn the sudden loss of a local leader.

A vigil was held at Birch Grove Park Thursday night to honor the memory of Jim Hoopes.

Hoopes was a decorated New Jersey State Trooper who coached youth baseball, youth basketball and youth football.

Friends describe him as an unbelievably giving person who always had time to help someone out and give back to kids.

He died Tuesday of a heart ailment. He was 39, and was survived by his wife Meredith and two sons Jayson and Joseph.

1421 New Road, Northfield, NJ 08225. There are additional Viewing hours on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 from 0930 hrs until 1100 hrs.

Funeral: Tuesday, September 18, 2012, immediately following the Viewing at 1100 hrs. A Roman Catholic Service will be held at Saint Bernadette Parish, 1421 New Road, Northfield, NJ 08225.

NJ SEED will get a real experience of this growing economy by touring critical areas and engaging with its elected and policy leaders in meaningful discussion. Issues including Newark development, regional infrastructure growth, education as an economic engine and recognition with NJ SEED's leadership awards.
