Amtrak, NJ Transit Will Cooperate to Address Train Woes, Murphy Pledges
Gov. Phil Murphy, the leadership of Amtrak and New Jersey Transit and other officials convened Thursday (6/27) morning to discuss how the two agencies can better coordinate to address the severe train problems that have plagued commutes in recent weeks.
Amtrak and NJ Transit are intertwined — Amtrak owns much of the rail system that NJ Transit trains use, while NJ Transit is responsible for much of the overhead wire network that powers those trains. The agencies have traded blame after recent commuter system meltdowns.
