The latest string of delays and cancellations that has snarled New Jersey Transit’s rail system in recent weeks may not be due to overhead wire issues but some other root cause entirely, an Amtrak executive told Rep. Frank Pallone (D-6th) this week.
“He suggested that the problem may not even be the overhead wires and it might have to do with the fact that Amtrak’s equipment or locomotives somehow are not compatible with the tracks along the Northeast Corridor,” Pallone said, referencing the busy stretch of track that links Boston to Washington, D.C.
