State environmental regulators fined a South Jersey data center $1.07 million for allegedly operating dozens of pollution-emitting natural-gas generators without permits.
DataOne in Vineland was issued an administrative order and notice of penalty after a July 29 visit by Department of Environmental Protection inspectors on July 29. On site were 62 machines known as stationary reciprocating generators, or engines, that lacked permits, the department announced on Tuesday (9/24).
